Our mission

At The Baltimore Irish Music School, we are led by our three core values: Community, Tradition, and Craic. We strive to instill all these values in our curriculum and inspire our students to live these out every day.

Community

Our students are part of a larger musical community. Irish traditional music is, at its heart, a social style of music. BIMS students will be provided with opportunities to be a part of that community.

Tradition

Tradition lies at the heart of Irish traditional music. The music tradition is something that is passed down through generations and is independent of race, religion, or creed. Our students will have opportunities to connect with experienced Irish musicians and to learn the value of continuing the tradition.

Craic

Craic is all about having fun and engaging with other musicians in a positive environment. BIMS students will be provided opportunities to have fun with their peers and will learn the value of the music beyond the competition stage or recording studio.

The Baltimore Irish Music School believes that all young students who desire to learn Irish music should be able to do so in a supportive environment at an affordable cost. We aim to create a gateway to growth opportunities from festival classes to Fleadh competitions and beyond. Our instrument library allows students to try any instrument they are interested in without the financial burden of buying every instrument they are inspired to try.

It is the duty of the community around us to help these children access these opportunities. BIMS acts as a conduit to bring funds from the community and turn them into classes, scholarships, and instrument access for the students.
